Avijit Halder: Then and Now

After a high school internship at New York University fim school a few summers ago when he made another film, now Avijit Halder (above, right) is in his freshman year at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. "Once I got in, I was very excited, but I was sad at the same time: How was I going to pay for it?" Mr. Halder told the New York Sun, in an interview last fall. Once more, Kids With Cameras came up with a chunk of money, and NYU covered the rest, to give this young man from Calcutta another break. "A long way from Bollywood," the New York Times said. Or from his boyhood in Calcutta (above, left).
